On Friday 4 June, a construction contract was signed between Hafnarfjörður and Borgarverk ehf. due to the demolition of a steel wall on the extension of Sundabakki in Ísafjörður.
The contract amount is 393.7 million and is by far the largest project that Hafnir Ísafjarðarbær has undertaken in recent decades, but it can be assumed that the total project when it will be completed will be around 1 billion.
The picture shows Guðmundur M Kristjánsson Harbor Master and Óskar Sigvaldason from Borgarverki ehf. at this significant juncture. The second photo also shows Kjartan Elíasson, an engineer at Vegagerðin, who oversees the project. The photos were taken by G. Pétur Matthíasson, Vegagerðin’s Information Officer.
